Brave Daughters' Hand Chain

Better Fit, Better Feel: Rethinking Hand Chain Sizing

There’s a reason most hand chains can feel slightly off.

Too loose, so they slide around and get caught in everything.
Too tight, so they restrict movement and never sit quite right.
Or “adjustable,” but in a way that feels like an afterthought—an extra bit of chain that solves a problem without really considering the experience of wearing it.

We didn’t want any of that.

So when we designed the Bar Chain Hand Chain, we made a decision early on:
no one-size-fits-all, and no traditional extender chain.

Instead, we built it around something much simpler—and much harder to get right:

fit.

Why “One Size Fits All” Doesn’t Actually Fit Anyone

The idea sounds convenient. Universal. Easy.

But when it comes to a hand chain, proportions matter more than almost any other piece of jewelry.

You’re working across:

  • Wrist circumference
  • Hand width
  • Finger placement
  • The natural movement between all three

Even a small difference in length changes everything:

  • How the chain drapes
  • Where the bar sits
  • Whether it feels fluid… or frustrating

A standard adjustable hand chain with a long extender might technically “fit,” but it rarely feels intentional.

And that’s the difference we care about.

Designing for Real Hands (Not Just Measurements)

We didn't guess our sizing. We wore it.

For  weeks, the Bar Hand Chain was passed  around our team -- tried on different hands,  different proportions, different ways of  moving through the day.

We paid attention to:
  • Where the bar naturally wanted to sit
  • How much tension felt comfortable vs. restrictive
  • How it looked when your hand was at rest vs. in motion
And we refined. What came out of that process was a three-size system that actually reflects how people wear jewelry in real life.

Why We Skipped the Traditional Extender Chain.

Most extender chains solve for length—but they introduce new problems:

  • Extra chain that dangles or distracts
  • A finish that feels less considered
  • Limited control over where the piece actually sits

For something as visual and delicate as a bar chain, those details matter. So instead of adding length at the end, we built flexibility into the structure. The Detail That Changes Everything: The Jumbo ClaspThe Bar Hand Chain features a jumbo clasp that can clip onto any open link along the chain. That means:

  • You’re not locked into a single fixed point
  • You can fine-tune the fit within your size
  • You control exactly how it drapes across your hand

In practice, it gives you the adjustability of an extender chain—without compromising the design.

Fit Isn’t Just Comfort—It’s the Entire Look

When a hand chain fits correctly, you notice it immediately. The bar sits where it should.
The chain moves naturally with you.
Nothing pulls, nothing slips, nothing feels like it needs adjusting. It becomes part of your movement—not something you’re constantly aware of.That’s what we were after.

Designed With Intention

Every decision behind the Bar Hand Chain came back to the same idea:Jewelry should feel as good as it looks. That means:

  • Thoughtful sizing instead of shortcuts
  • Built-in flexibility
  • A finish that feels elevated from every angle

Because the difference between a piece you wear once and one you reach for every day?

It’s almost always in the details.

The Bar Hand Chain launches April 18th at 12PM EST.
