How to Measure for a Hand Chain: Your Brave Daughters Size Guide

A little movement, a little sparkle, and a whole new way to wear your jewelry. Our Brave Daughters hand chain connects a ring to a wrist chain, bringing the whole look together across the back of your hand.

We’re making it in three sizes: small, medium, and large, with room to adjust the fit within each size. Here’s how to measure your hand and wrist, choose your size, and leave enough space to actually move. Because jewelry should feel as good as it looks.

Hand Chain Size Chart

You’ll need two measurements to find your size: your middle finger ring size and your wrist circumference plus your handpiece length.

Size Middle Finger Ring Size Combined Wrist + Handpiece Length
Small 7 and under 9.25 inches
Medium 7–10 10.5 inches
Large 11 and up 11.75 inches

Save or screenshot this chart so you can compare your measurements while you’re shopping.

The combined length is your wrist measurement added to the distance from your middle finger knuckle to your wrist bone. It isn’t your wrist measurement alone.

How to Measure for Your Hand Chain

Grab a flexible measuring tape. If you don’t have one, a piece of nonstretch string and a ruler will work, too.

1. Find your middle finger ring size

Our hand chain is designed to be worn on your middle finger, so start with the ring size for that finger.

If you already know it, you’re one step ahead. Otherwise, use a ring sizer to check. Measure the finger on the hand where you plan to wear your chain, since your hands may be different sizes.

2. Measure the handpiece length

Measure across the back of your hand, from your middle finger knuckle down to your wrist bone.

Gently stretch and flex your hand as you check the measurement. You’re looking for a fit that gives you room to move, rather than one that only works when your hand is perfectly still.

Write down that length in inches.

3. Measure around your wrist

Wrap the measuring tape around your wrist where the wrist chain will sit. Keep it comfortably against your skin without pulling it tight.

Write down your wrist circumference in inches.

4. Add your hand and wrist measurements together

Add your handpiece length to your wrist circumference:

Handpiece length + wrist circumference = your combined measurement

Compare that total with the size chart, then check it alongside your middle finger ring size.

How the Adjustable Fit Works

Off the body, you’ll see that the handpiece and wrist chain are one continuous piece.

Within each size, you can clip the clasp onto different links to adjust how the chain sits across your hand and around your wrist. That gives you room to fine-tune the fit.

The small, medium, and large options give you a starting point; the adjustable links help you make it yours.

Between Hand Chain Sizes? Size Up.

If you’re between sizes, we recommend choosing the larger size.

Your hand changes shape when you make a fist, reach for something, or flex your fingers. A chain that looks perfect on a flat hand can feel too tight once you start moving.

The extra length gives you more room to adjust. You want a comfortable drape across the back of your hand, with enough freedom to make a fist without the chain pulling.

Hand Chain Sizing FAQs

Can I choose my hand chain size using only my ring size?

Use both measurements. Your middle finger ring size helps determine the finger fit, while your combined hand and wrist measurement helps determine the chain length.

What if my ring size and combined measurement point to different sizes?

Reach out before ordering so we can help you find the best fit. Share your middle finger ring size, handpiece length, and wrist circumference.

What if I wear a size 7 ring?

Size 7 appears in both the small and medium ranges, so check your combined hand and wrist measurement to help choose between them. If you’re between sizes, size up.

How should a hand chain feel?

It should sit comfortably around your finger and wrist, with a little drape across the back of your hand. You should be able to flex your hand and make a fist without feeling a tight pull.
